How To Clean An Oven: 5 Easy Steps

Nothing makes a kitchen look like a horrific crime scene than the sight of an unclean oven. The grease that has left its permanent stain on the glass and the cheese that has pooled at the bottom, the scene isn’t one anyone enjoys encountering.

You need to remove any traces of the mess before your guests arrive at your home, but how? You don’t know how to clean an oven! Well, that isn’t an issue at all, for we certainly do. If you follow some of the simple tricks we have noted down, your oven will look good as new in no time.

How To Clean An Oven: Follow Our 5 Step Process

1. Remove All The Items From The Oven

The racks, pizza stone, thermometer, and any other items that you have inside your oven, depending on the model you have, take it all out. The more space you have inside your oven to reach different parts, the easier it is.

You can clean the racks and pizza stone by dipping them in a tub full of dishwashing powder and soap. As for the thermometer, we will suggest using regular lukewarm water to give it a good wipe and then dry it clean.

2. Create A Paste

Take out a mini bowl and fill it with about 1/2 cup of baking soda. Mix it with an even lesser amount of water. You can adjust the ratio of both the ingredients until you have a thick paste you can be satisfied with.

3. Apply It On The Oven!

Put on gloves on your hands and use a brush to grab a generous amount of the paste. Coat the paste inside the oven; don’t leave any corner out beside the elements related to heating. If you have gloves in your hand, you should be able to reach the furthest corners without worrying you will get your hands dirty.

As you rub the baking soda inside the oven, you will see it turn into a brown color. Keep a note of this and carry on applying it to all areas, especially the particularly greasy ones.

4. Let It Sit!

Let the baking soda work its magic on the oven for at least 12 hours. It’s better if you let it stay overnight, for the paste will get the time to kill germs and loosen the stains properly.

5. Wipe The Oven

Take a microfiber cloth and dip it in cold water. Now use it to wipe away the baking soda inside the oven. For areas that are hard to reach with a dishcloth alone, you can use a spatula to scrape off the sticky stuff.

Afterward, spray a little amount of vinegar inside the oven. You will see the vinegar react with baking soda to create foam. Wipe this foam off with another dishcloth. You will be greeted with a shiny oven. You can further wipe the stove with a clean washcloth or wait for it to dry off. Put the rack and other objects back inside the oven. It is now as good as ever!
